Here is an audio recording I made about how to capture the emails of your prospects and potential clients.

Email is important. You live and die by your database. So the most important thing to do on your website is get visitors to subscribe to your email list. But you can’t force anyone to subscribe so you need to have a good enticement strategy.

I recommend giving away something of value in return for an email address. Here’s a list of email services that allow you to automate this process.  When someone enters their email address the capture box can automatically take them to a download page. Then on this page you can supply a free eBook, video training, or report to download.

Here is an example. Let’s say you own a tax preparation service business. You should already be developing content to improve people’s lives and help them understand tax laws. Because of this valuable content on your site you are attracting a lot of one-time visitors to read your articles. They are finding your site through social media channels and the search engines. But the goal is to capture these emails so you can follow up with them at a later time and further the relationship or close a sale.

This is where a great email capture system can come in handy. By using an email service provider – you can place a small subscribe box on your site. Then offer something for free. Here’s how it might read for a tax preparation service business.

“Sign up for the tax insider email newsletter today and receive a 14 page free report packed with 10 steps on how to pay 20% lower taxes this year.”

You’ve now offered your prospect a free valuable piece of information in return for her email address. And an email address is really more than simply an email address. You are beginning a relationship with the prospect.

Now you can begin cultivating that relationship by sending email newsletters packed with valuable information and resources. Eventually you will become a trusted source of information in your topic area. Continuing with the tax prep service hypothesis – who do you think these people are going to chose to do their taxes? After you’ve spent weeks or months giving them valuable information they will trust you and turn to you as the expert in your chosen field.

So get signed up with an email service provider. We have a great list here. And begin giving away something of value for free in return for a prospect’s email address. It is one of the best marketing strategies you can implement this year for your business or organization.
