Folk Media Internships

Are you looking for a kick-butt internship that doesn’t have you fetching coffee for some stuff shirt executive and pressing the copy button over and over?
If you’d like an exciting internship chocked full of actual experience – then we’ve got what you’re looking for.
But please – if you are lazy, stupid, non-creative, or enjoy fetching coffee for stuff shirt executives – this isn’t the internship for you. We will expect you to be a self-starter. We don’t have fancy offices with thousands of people. So you will need to pull your weight.
Folk Media LLC is a new media production studio developing original online content for the digital age. We produce fast, nimble, and creative media. This includes online video, audio podcasts, blogs, photo posts and eBooks among other things. We don’t have time to hold your hand. But we do have time to help you gain great career experience – develop your skills – and have fun in the process.
The pay’s not great (there is none), but the experience you get will be invaluable. Did we mention that our interns don’t get us coffee. They’re actively involved in making the media with us. If you want to gain hands-on experience in a creative, fast-paced environment this is the place you’ll want to intern.
We are currently accepting internship applications. All internships are 8-12 weeks long, minimum 20 hours per week and are located in Baltimore, Maryland.

Documentation
We prefer interns of Folk Media LLC be registered in a college or university. Interns not receiving college credit will be considered on a case by case scenario. Send us an email and “pitch” us a good story on why you’re not in school and don’t have a full-time job. If the pitch is good enough – and you seem like a hard worker – who knows – maybe we’ll make an exception.
Living Arrangements/Part-Time Jobs
All internships are located in Baltimore Maryland so you will either need to already live here (or near here) or be willing to relocate for your internship.
Interns will be responsible for securing their own living arrangements and/or supplemental employment while working at Folk Media LLC. We can provide a few websites and ideas on where to rent – but final responsibility will lie with the intern.

.
Transportation
It is strongly recommended that the intern have his/her own car or access to public transportation. Most places in the city are accessible by bus or mass transit.
.
Compensation
Internships at Folk Media LLC are unpaid; however, Folk Media LLC will provide all necessary documentation for interns to receive full college credit for work successfully performed. We do offer screen/production credit on media projects for whatever job role you fill. This credit can be valuable to use in a demo reel or resumes.
.
Schedule
Internships at Folk Media LLC are to be no less than 2 months, but we favor interns who can work a full 12-week schedule. All interns at Folk Media LLC are asked to set a definitive schedule of at least 20 hours each week to maintain continuity of operations. We spend large batches of time creating a lot of media that is released over time – so you will have an impact that reaches beyond your actual internship.
Please Note: Due to the creative nature of the work we are doing most hours may end up being very non traditional. You may work evenings from 6-11pm or all day Saturday and Sunday.
