Mark,

First, thanks for the comment. It's appreciated! It can be tough to connect with your followers again once you've been on a Twitter hiatus. It seems like they've just forgotten about you and could care less at this point. If you keep trying to engage them, I think they'll warm back up to you. Continue to reply to their posts and attempt to begin conversation.

As far as the follower base is concerned, I'd say that creating useful content all over the web will help you grow your follower base. I think the initial surge of Twitter use definitely helped grow your number of followers but not necessarily the quality of your followers. In the social media world, quality is always better than quantity. To grow your followers, post relevant content and they'll come to you.

I think Twitter use could be on the decline but only because a lot of people are "trenders." Trenders only do what is hip and cool and then they move on. However, I think Twitter will be useful tool for businesses and social media enthusiasts for a long, long time.

Sorry for the length of my reply! I had a lot to say!

Thanks for the great tips. I didn't update Twitter for a few months and noticed that it's now much harder to get my followers to start engaging again.

It also now takes longer to grow your follower base, now that the Twitter fad has worn off.

Eric, do you think Twitter use is on the decline?
